Garment Techpacks

A garment tech pack, short for technical package, is essentially the blueprint of a clothing item. It is a detailed document that communicates everything a manufacturer needs to know in order to produce a garment exactly the way a designer or brand envisions it. Think of it as a complete instruction manual for your product, covering everything from measurements and materials to stitching details and labeling requirements.

Whether you are an established brand or just starting out, a well-prepared tech pack is one of the most important tools in the garment production process. It eliminates guesswork, reduces costly errors, and ensures that the final product matches your original vision, every single time.

What Does a Garment Tech Pack Include?

A professional tech pack is made up of several key sections, each serving a specific purpose in the production process. Here is a breakdown of everything that is typically included:

1. Design Sketches & Technical Flat Drawings

This section includes detailed flat sketches of the garment from the front, back, and side views. These technical drawings clearly illustrate the design details such as seams, pockets, zippers, buttons, and any other design elements. Unlike fashion illustrations, these drawings are precise and proportional, giving the manufacturer an accurate visual reference to work from.

2. Measurements & Size Specifications

This is one of the most critical sections of a tech pack. It includes a full measurement chart with exact dimensions for every size in the range such as, chest width, body length, sleeve length, hem width, and more. Accurate size specifications ensure that every garment is produced consistently across all sizes, with no variation from one unit to the next.

3. Fabric & Material Details

This section specifies exactly which fabrics and materials are to be used in the garment. It includes information such as fabric type, weight, composition, weave or knit structure, and any special finishes or treatments required. For example, whether the fabric should be cotton jersey, French Terry, polyester spandex, or any other material from our extensive fabric library. Everything is clearly defined here.

4. Trim & Hardware Specifications

Trims and hardware refer to all the additional components used in a garment beyond the main fabric. This includes zippers, buttons, drawstrings, eyelets, elastic, labels, patches, rivets, and any other accessories. This section specifies the type, size, color, placement, and supplier details for each trim. Ensuring nothing is left to assumption.

5. Color Specifications

Colors are defined using internationally recognized color systems such as Pantone codes, ensuring that the exact shade is reproduced accurately in production. This section also covers color placement on the garment, color combinations for different colorways, and any printing or embroidery color references.

6. Printing, Embroidery & Decoration Details

If the garment includes any form of decoration such as screen printing, embroidery, sublimation, rhinestone work, or 3D embossing, this section provides all the necessary details. It includes artwork files, placement measurements, thread colors, print dimensions, and technique specifications so that every decorative element is executed with precision.

7. Construction & Stitching Details

This section outlines how the garment is to be constructed from start to finish. It includes information on stitch types, seam allowances, seam finishes, stitch density, and any special construction techniques required. It ensures that the garment is built to the right standard of quality and durability.

8. Labels & Packaging Instructions

Every garment needs proper labeling and packaging before it reaches the end customer. This section covers the placement and content of all labels including brand labels, size labels, care instruction labels, and country of origin labels. It also outlines packaging requirements such as folding instructions, polybag sizes, hangtag placement, and carton specifications.

9. Fit Comments & Revision History

As a garment goes through the sampling process, adjustments and corrections are made based on fit evaluations. This section keeps a record of all fit comments, corrections, and revisions made across different sample stages, ensuring a clear and traceable development history from the first sample to the final approved production version.
